Should I transfer from Blogger to Wordpress ? What will happen to all the Google Juice?

Most blogger want to shift from Blogger platform to Wordpress but worried most of the time of losing traffic, readers and google juice. The other day, while driving my car to go home from work, I saw one of the advertisements on the roadside about something related to Internet marketing and social media; and all of the sudden I started to think of upgrading my blogger hosted blog to a paid hosting.

Since Wordpress is flexible and easy to maintain (apart from cPanel headache for first time user) I don’t see any reasons of why I should not transfer my blog to Wordpress. But, one question remains scary and even going scarier every day; what will happen to all the Google Juice?

This blog has been running with a registered domain since October 2008 and I can see my visitors increasing to a comfortable amount at least for new blog like mine. I put a lot of effort to see this blog surpasses the 1 million mark for Alexa Ranking, getting my first payment from my Make Money adventure and even, I can call this blog theme as my own because of the tweaking and modification I’ve done.

Migrating from Blogger to Wordpress, I have to consider this entire bigger problem that is hard to ignore: 5 things to consider moving from Blogger to Wordpress

1. What will happen to all of my previous articles on the blogger blog that ranked very high (compare to other posts) in search engines for certain keywords. Shifting these articles to a new platform might lose all that organic search traffic.

2. How about the Link Structures from all the posts of the old blog if the migration ever take place?

3. Do search bots, human beings who come to read your old articles via links from other sites know about the new location? Inserting the new links manually is indeed pain in the arse, i don’t even know if my blog linked from other site that applies nofollow rules.

4. Existing blog readers who are subscribed to my Blogger RSS Feed may be lost forever if they don’t manually update their RSS readers with my new WordPress feed address

5. Considering losing RSS subscribers and search engines rankings, the pageviews will drop and that will seriously impact Advertisement revenue in case you are running ads on your site.

So what is the best solution? If anyone here has any suggestion, I would love to hear. Presently, I am testing the relocation of blogger platform to Wordpress with my other domain and will see if I can successfully switch with all the Google Juice still intact. If I do, you will see this blog ‘powered by Wordpress’ in the very near time. I just need to trust Google.

Banned From Adsense

What are you going to do if you are banned from Adsense? End of the world? Quit blogging? Let me stretch my neck before I continue typing. Ok, it took me a few months to decide whether I should publish this post or not. If you noticed, Adsense ads had been missing from this blog for about a few months now. The reason; I was banned from Adsense!

My account suspended because of invalid clicks activity on Adsense ads published in this blog. This is the email I receive from them

While going through our records recently, we found that your AdSense

account has posed a significant risk to our AdWords advertisers. Since

keeping your account in our publisher network may financially damage our

advertisers in the future, we've decided to disable your account.

Google in the other hand, admitting that they suspended publishers every single day. I’ve heard similar stories many times. Bloggers getting banned from AdSense without any warning or explanation. It wouldn’t be so bad, but when Google do this, they perpetually withhold any earnings you have.

Back to my story, as soon as i got banned, i send them an email through their appeal form to reinstate my account. And on the eve before Christmas (2 months after) i got the reply saying that they cannot reinstate my account for the same reasons and to protect the interest of their advertiser. So generally, the chances of resurrecting your Adsense account are less. And only few are manage to get their money keep running to their bank account after banned from the programme.

Based on a quick assessment of what actually happened to the reasons that got me banned, i found out several potential reasons.

1) People who blog-walking to this blog and click on my adsense ads hoping in return i will click on their ads. (That is why i remove the chat widget on my sidebar)

2) Participation in the Traffic Exchange Program a while back when this blog traffic is less than 5 visits per day. My noob’ness!

3) Clicks from the Traffic Exchange Programme.

4) Multiple clicks from one IP address. Damn you man!!

So before you participate in Adsense please carefully read the TOS and keep away from traffics that encourage invalid clicks. For the time being it is best for me to join ads program that really pay. I am happy with Nuffnang for the cheque they sent me recently. So Bye- bye Adsense!

P/S : if you receive you Google PIN which made you entitled to withdrawal your earning, get ready to be Banned because they will re-evaluate your account.

2010 is dreadful year for PCs consumers. Last year recession resulted in shortage of computer components in term of production. And if you’re planning to buy and assemble a new PC this year, it is much likely to cost you more than expected if you buy later this year.

Thanks to the progression of DRAM memory chips from DDR2 to DDR3. According to Eric Bangeman of arstechnica, DDR3 spot prices are up 23 percent more expensive than the previous month. Prices of LCD panels and Hard-drives also expected to cost 20 percent more. So, if you plan to upgrade to SSD (Solid State Drive), this year may not be the time to power-up you Netbook as SSD build entirely on electronics and chips.

The manufacturers are recovering from their downfall and it’s our turn to consume the echo. I’ll keep an eye on the progress of this report because I’m sighting a new GPU this year, plus a hands-on experience on SSD. Hope i can get it before it ever happened.

Nuffnang Payment - First Nuffnang Cheque

First month of 2010, my Nuffnang cheque finally arrived. This will mark my first ever payment from Nuffnang. It took me almost a year to get this payment and barely enuff to cover my Domain Name fee for two years.

This “Spark” will encourage me to do even more in my blogging voyage and hope for fruitful years ahead… Personally for me, To earn more with Nufnang is all about your site's traffic. The more traffic you have the more you'll earn from this advertising platform.

Floating Nuffnang Skyscrapper Ads Unit

Out of curiosity, I contacted Nuffnang staff to query about the tweak of Nuffnang ads I found from xyncaholic. In response from Nuffnang Helpdesk, it is OK to place the Skyscrapper ad to float, but they are not encouraging you to do so because it might be incompatible with Nuffnang future updates. If you still want to try this tweak i dont see any reason why you can't do so. It's at your own risk :)

The modification of Nuffnang Skyscrapper ad unit to static means, whenever your blog visitor scroll to read content of you blog the ads remain static and float. Hence, optimizing your ads visibilities and will increase you ad CTR (Click through Ratio).

I personally love this tweak because:

1) Ads are highly visible

2) Will improve your ads CTR

3) Advertiser will love you, because of reason no. 1

So, if you want to install the Skyscrapper unit to static/float, this is what you have to do. It’s simple.

1) Login to your Nuffnang account and get you skyscraper ad unit code. This hack is only good for this type of ads unit.

2) Login to your Blogger account and add new HTML/Javascript element. Copy the HTML code below and replace the words in red with your Nuffnang Skyscrapper ad code.

16 Important Blog Posts That Lift Up This Blog Progress

This post is dedicated to my ups and down during my official first year blogging with this domain. I have gone thru all my previous posts of 2009 and carefully selected posts that furnish impact (good & bad) to this blog development.

Last year I only manage to pen out some 80 posts for the reason that I can't remember :) and most of them I consider as just a filler and not meaningful. Some of the posts are without comments because I changed my commenting system twice and losing the all the juice of blog interaction between visitors and force to start over again.

But that is the beauty of blogging, we learn and stumble new things every new single day. I hope 2010 bring some magic to this blog and i wish to learn even more.
